Wrapped around her pinky

Mom included this story about Aubrey in an e-mail she sent me. Let me explain that my dad has studio recording stuff and likes to record our very musical family. The result is that my mom has a CD of me singing that she keeps in her car.

I was listening to a CD of you in the car yesterday. I had Aubrey w/ me. She wanted to know who was singing. I told her that it was Aunt Nini. She said she wanted to go see Aunt Nini. I told her that Aunt Nini lived far away, but that it would make her happy to know that Aubrey wanted to come see her. She said she liked your singing. Her words, "I like it. It's pretty." Now, have I made your day?!

I melted! She definitely made my day! I keep teasing my parents about their granddaughter having them wrapped around her little finger, but if she keeps saying things like that, she'll have her Aunt Nini wrapped around that pinky, too!

Number 322

When I looked at the Pop Candy website, I found a link to the 20 richest women celebrities. As I was looking through that list, I noticed a tab for the 400 richest Americans. I skimmed through the list and found several Texans, mostly getting their money for oil. One had "Salsa" as his source--that one made me laugh for some reason. I saw Jerry Jones and Ross Perot. Then I noticed that at number 322, the location was listed as "Temple, TX." Sure enough, Drayton McClane was listed. Drayton is a member at my previous church and owns the Astros (the pastor and his wife got to go to the first World Series game played in Texas...and I baby-sat their kids). He lives about 2 blocks from my old apartment in Temple, and I've even been to his house once (for a Sunday school Christmas party). He and his wife Elizabeth are some of the sweetest people at my old church. Drayton has a knack for remembering names (which I'm sure comes in handy with all the business that he does. They are a very strong Christian couple.

I can't believe I know the 322 richest person in America...very strange!

In other news, I just found out that one of my old roommates, Annah, has moved to the DFW area! YEA!!!!!!! So exciting to have a friend nearby!

Wednesday Morning
I just spent the last two days in the Houston area for a conference. It was just long enough for me to decide that I don't think that I ever want to live in Houston! :-) I'm adjusting to living in the Metroplex, but it seems like the Houston area traffic is even crazier!
The conference was pretty good (not quite as good as past years), and I got to see Cat & Jeff and their kids (Emma has grown so much!! And J.C. is almost adopted!)

Canthen had his first surgery last Friday, and it went well. Mom e-mailed me this morning to tell me that the stitches had torn while they were feeding him. Please keep them in your prayers! Here's a picture of Canthen...I'll try to post more as his lip heals.
