Experiment #214

Here's something silly...These guys have way too much time on their hands...but it looks like they are having fun! I wonder how long it took them to set this up and get it to work right?

Great Weekend
I made a quick trip to Temple this weekend to visit Cindy and Andrea and to see some of my kids in a play. I also was able to see some of the staff as well as a church member that I was really close to.

I hadn't realized how lonely I've been since moving to HEB. Andrea and I stayed up until about 4:00 a.m. Friday night/Saturday morning just watching movies and talking. I've missed having close friends to hang out with. Be praying that God will bring people into my life that I can do that with. Everyone's been really nice here, but I don't really have anyone I can confide in...I know that will take time, so I'm just trying to be patient and build relationships.

Sunday was a great day! The trio was so much fun, and went over well. I had my first meeting with my preschool and children's teachers, and we had a great turnout!!! I had nearly all of my preschool teachers, and a good number of my children's teachers there. I never had that kind of attendance at my meetings in Temple, so this is a new experience for me!! They seem eager to move forward and to do what needs to be done to move forward, so that's encouraging. Even two of the youth helpers came to the meeting. I have been really impressed by both of these girls and their commitment on Sunday mornings. They have been very faithful and are hardworkers. I'll take youth like these anytime!!

I'm so excited!!!
One of the things that I was saddest about leaving in Temple was my best friends Andrea and Cindy. Along with being some of the sweetest people I've ever known, we had starting singing trios together at church (I think we sang 4 times together).

Well, I have a new trio to sing with, from the most unlikely of places--with my staff!! The pastor, worship pastor and I will be singing "Voice of Truth" by Casting Crowns this Sunday. They are excited to have an alto who can sing the really high parts (which down an octave for me are in my low to mid range).

Of course, our worship pastor has a beautiful voice (you kind of expect that!). It was the pastor that amazed me! John can SING! Wow!!! Just a beautiful tenor voice...how fun! My dad would say that we need a bass, though! Our worship pastor is very excited, because he wants us to do some Philips, Craig & Dean stuff (which I would love!).

Anyway, having a great time at work! I'm really glad that my daddy "embarrassed me." Did I tell that story here? Well, my very proud father wanted his daughter's new church to know about her musical gifts, so he e-mailed her new worship pastor before she got there, and sent him several mp3s and then a CD of her singing...which the worship leader then made copies of and sent around the office. And this unsuspecting daughter didn't find out from her very proud father, she found out from the chair of the search ministry team!!! :-) Needless to say, I was about ready to kill my sweet daddy...but he has always been my biggest supporter and my biggest fan, and because of that, God has blessed me with some wonderful men to sing with!!! (It's been awhile since I've sung with men).

Better get to work!!

It's definitely Monday morning!

Well, it's definitely Monday morning...I'm so not a morning person, and on top of that it's MONDAY morning...long week of work ahead of me. But I do love my new job, so that helps.

It's finally starting to cool off here! I've needed a coat the last two mornings...I didn't need it by the afternoon, but it's better than nothing.

I'm currently the only one in the office...believe it or not, I'm usually the first person in the office every morning. I think I live the closest to the church...and because I have to leave early on Thursdays, I make sure I'm here pretty much right at 8:00.

I think I'm killing my plant...FBC gave me a plant before I left (it was the centerpiece on the cookie table at my going away reception). I've never been good with plants...I managed to kill an ivy, if that tells you anything! Ivy is supposed to be an easy plant to take care of, and I did really well for a long time. It would start to droop, and I'd remember to give it water, and it would perk back up. I had it for over a year...and then I left it out in a HUGE freeze that Temple had a few years ago...and it turned black. I have my FBC plant sitting in my office, and I keep forgetting to water it. Plants are too quiet...I can do pets and babies because they tell you when they need something. Plants just wither up and die...quietly! I think this one is a long way off from dying, but if I keep going a week without watering it, I don't think it'll make it!!!

I've seen stuff like this before (once in an episode at then end of season one of the old show Profiler, in fact), but it never ceases to amaze me. I think as women, we especially get caught up in trying to fit some image that the world has made up for us to be...when that image isn't real to begin with...
Yea!!! I'm a blogging friend again!!!

It's been a long time...

Wow...it's been forever since I've written in this thing. So long that Adam took me off of his "blogging friends" list! :-)

Wednesday I will have been in the office here at NP for 3 weeks. It has been a pretty crazy 3 weeks, too! Today I met the former children's minister. I didn't realize she was still a church member, so that's a bit intimidating. She's really sweet, though, and I think she'll be a huge encouragement for me.

My sweet new nephew will have to have surgery in January for his cleft lip and palate. I went to Amarillo from the 5th-7th (I think the quickest trip I've made ever!) to meet him. I spent several hours Friday playing with Aubrey and Brendon and holding Canthen. I tried to get Aubrey to say "Nissa" (She calls me Nini) and she couldn't quite get it out. She's talking so much, though!!! And Brendon is just a little ham (don't know where he could have gotten that from) Canthen is so precious and I can't wait to see how his personality comes out as he gets older. I managed to see all of my immediate family who lives in Amarillo on that Saturday at lunch.

Last week I spent most of the week at the National Preschool and Children's Conference (NPCC) in Arlington as part of my Moral Development of the Young Child class. Along with attending NPCC, we had to meet as a class and do some presentations and class discussion. I also have several large assignments that are looming that I'm not going to think about today...I'll think about that tomorrow...I sound like Scarlett O'Hara...that makes me want to rent Gone With the Wind...wow, I have no attention span today! Because of the conference last week, I haven't been in the office since before I went to Amarillo...so I'm trying to figure out what in the world I need to be doing!!

Everyone here at NP is very nice...I really love the staff. But I miss everyone in Temple...especially Cindy and Andrea. I'm heading back that way in about a week and a half, though, so I'll try to see everyone.

Okay...work is calling...Happy Monday! And happy belated birthday to Morgan and Lisa!!
